Here is The Beginning of Bermuda's Hypocrisy

Protocol is the code of conduct that one is expected to follow when representing an organized, institution, government, etc. in an official and or social capacity. For example, an individual who is on a government assignment is expected to behave in a certain manner when on the states business. Whatever activities that individual gets involved in, he or she must always have his country’s best interest at heart; and his/her action must always reflect loyalty to his country and patriotism.

In the same manner, when a minister of government, a minister of the gospel or any other person in an official capacity are ask to make a public appearance or to speak publicly; that individual must first make sure that the persons, group or organization who extends that invitation, that they, their policies, associations and actions are in harmony with those whom he was appointed or elected to represents. In most cases such officers cannot accept personal invitation because their presence will automatically reflect on the post they holds. He or she must ensure that whatever is said in such forum or environment stays within the perimeters of the policies of the government or the organization whom he represents.

In some cases when an individual is appointed to a particular position, that individual is expected at all time to be responsible to the post, the organization, the public and those whom he represents. Such expectations are based on the image of the organization and the sensitivity of the post; thus the life and verbal expression of one who falls in this category must at all time reflect the standard, policies and principles of the organization they represents. Such category of people and profession may include but not limited to members of the diplomatic core, certain corporation, politicians and other high profile public officers.

Now that I have explained what protocol is, I am going to address an issue that was on my mind for sometime now. On 26th February 2008 while addressing the Bermuda House of Parliament, government minister Derrick Burgess JP. MP said “Guess workers should not get involved in Bermuda’s politics and those who speak out against their companies policies should be expected to get dismissed.”
Can you believe that such words came from the lips of a seasoned trade unionist? In my opinion Derrick Burgess words sound like those of an insecure fool or those of a dictator.

I am of the impression that Minister Derrick Burgess is of the impression that when an individual take up a post in Bermuda, they no longer has the ability to form, hold or express an opinion base on the activities that engulfed them daily. Mr. Burgess were you saying that because an individual is working in Bermuda he should not make comments of his observation, or give his opinion around the water cooler about his observations etc? This surly do not seems as if they are coming from a mind of rationality but one that is warped from years of ethnic prejudice. Were you also suggesting that the companies in Bermuda all has perfect policies? And were you suggesting (being a trade unionist) that if a company's policy affects a foreigner working (not guess workers because Bermuda do not have guess workers, for that’s not how as host one treats their guess) in Bermuda he or she must grind his or her teeth and suffer under whatever unfair or discriminatory policies that exist. Have you been a trade unionist for all those years with such a deranged thinking and insensitivity to workers, their rights and their feelings?

Mr. Burgess you do not sound like a politician or a trade unionist, you sounds like a slave master/driver. However instead of segregated laws and a slave whip, you use discriminatory policies, and behavior such as the revocation of the work permit to keep foreign workers/your slaves in line. I often smile to myself whenever I hear of foreign workers who for one unlawful reason or the other had their work permit revoke out of petty spite.

These actions are a perfect reflection of the size of the minds of the people who uphold and encourage such discriminatory practices and policies. It also reflects the level of mental mature/security and self-esteem they possess. These are action of weak men and women. Unfortunate the petty bigotry that is so common among a large cross section of Bermudian are nurtured and encouraged by the politicians and facilitated by those who knows better and sit by in silence.

Examined the hypocrisy:

Now on 16th October 2008, Consular General of the USA, Gregory Slayton in delivering a speech at the gathering of the 22nd congress of re-insurance at the Hamilton Princess Hotel in Bermuda publicly declared that Bermuda was in a recession

This is before the USA government publicly declared (even after many consecutive quarters boss refused to make such a declaration as it related to the USA. of proof that the USA was in a recession) that the USA was in a recession. Slayton’s could not make such a public declaration about in his country about his country whilst holding such a position.

I noticed that Dr. Brown, neither Derrick Burgess nor any other Bermudian called for the USA government to recall the Consular General for getting involved in Bermuda’s political affairs in the same manner you all was for ever calling for the recall of John Vereka. Here we see that Slayton not only got involved in the political affairs of Bermuda but he being a high profile member of the diplomatic core made a public declaration which should have been made by the minister of finances or the primer. We all know how such declaration can affect an economy.

This lead me to ask the following questions Mr. Derrick Burgess who were you speaking to when you made those remakes in your portfolio of parliamentarian? Were there exception? And why did you and your government just sit back like cowards after such a gross disrespect that was displayed for you, your remarks and your government operations?

George Jackson, My Prayers are with You and Your Family

When I was informed of the tragedy (son Andrew Jackson is brain dead as a result of a single vehicle accident) that struck the household of one of my nemesis Commissioner of the Bermuda Police Service George Jackson, I reflected on the lies he told on me with the sole purpose to have me suspended from the Bermuda Police Service, the instruction he gave to have my phone tapped and room bugged, the man power he dedicated to have me followed every where I went, the instruction he gave to have the carpet in my room drenched with water (which make the room unfit to live in) and the ton of other wickedness he did to me, that eventually lead to me submitting my resignation which marked my premature exit from the Bermuda Police Service; I cringed.

Although this period of reflection was overwhelming; I felt nothing but pity for him and the way he treated and had me treated, while I was a police officer under his command. I also became overwhelming with sorrow and sympathy for the terrible occurrence and state that Andrew is now in; and for what George Jackson and his family must be going through at this time.

No one really know or understand why sad and tragic events such as the one that happened to young Andrew take place but we have got to have faith that it was not all for naught. There is nothing much that I can say to ease the pain and suffering of the family of this young man at this point; but I can remind George Jackson and his family that there is a God who controls the events on earth and nothing ever happens without his permission and there is always a bigger picture and purpose to his plans.

In time of misfortune we must take comfort in the fact that Jehovah has promised that he will never allow us to suffer more than we can bear, he also promised that he will never leave nor forsake you and your family in your time of great despair. We all have a tendency to refuse his help, his comfort his guidance and his love when tragedy hits us but Jesus will continue to pursue us.

Let me take this opportunity to reassure you and your family that you are in my prayers. It is my request that Jehovah will grant you and your family the wisdom to look to him in your time of need, also may the angels keep watch over Andrew as he relax in a state of unconsciousness; and may the wisdom of God be with you and your family while you work though this time of difficulty.

Who Are The Prey & Who Are The Predators

..................................An Artist impression of a predator

Between the months of December 2007 and January of the year 2008, while I was still actively policing the island of Bermuda, I stumbled upon a dangerous trend. This trend was so dangerous that it may be responsible for this years increase in vehicular accidents and some of the island youths losing their life in motor vehicle collisions on the roads of Bermuda. From my experience and based on the evidence, I concluded that a member or a group within the Bermuda Community was introducing a new illegal drug to the island or they had purchased some bad drugs from one of their illegal supplier; which was having an adverse effect on the users.

The discovery:

It was between 9:00 pm and 10:00 pm (my memory does not afford me the privilege of specifically remember which day of the week it was,) I was dispatched to the Junction of Front and Queen Street, Pembroke Parish to investigate a single vehicle accident. On my arrival to the location I saw a young man who was injured and a motorcycle at the scene; my inquiries revealed that the operator of the vehicle had left the scene; the pinion rider and the motorcycle were abandon by the rider of the cycle. Later the operator of the cycle was apprehended by two of my colleagues. These two young men were accompanied by a young lady who became concerned for the safety of her injured friend and called the police.

After the injured man refused medical care and he had regained his composure, I invited him to the Hamilton Police Station, an invitation which he accepted. This young man was appreciatively conveyed him to the Hamilton Police Station by the police. I also invited the young lady to the Hamilton Police Station for two reasons:

  1. She was a witness to an event that the police were investigating and so important evidential information can be obtained form her,
  2. She was very willing to cooperate with the police. When requested, the young lady offered a written statement.

While I was in the process of recording the young lady’s statement I was summoned into the office by my supervisor. While there I saw the pinion rider who was just moments ago very much composed, lying on the office floor, I was informed that he collapsed on the floor and fell into a deep sleep. I confirmed that the young man was indeed sleeping because of the loud consistent snoring sound that he made.

The young man was then removed from the sergeant’s office and put in a safe place where he enjoyed a supervised recovery from what appear to be a drug induced sleep.

I then returned to the young lady in order to complete the statement I was in the process of recording. While there and without any prior warning the young lady vomited on the floor, she requested to use the bathroom and was allowed to do so.

While I was awaiting the young lady’s return from the washroom my colleagues arrived at the Hamilton Police Station with the operator of the motorcycle which was involved it the accident. As the officer who was investigating this matter I listened as the arresting officers updated the custody Sergeant of the circumstances which led this young man’s apprehension. Without any prior indication of what followed, I saw the young man who appeared to be a little confused collapsed to the floor in the Sergeant’s office and also fell into a deep sleep. He was also place in a secure and supervised place where he was allowed to sleep off what also appeared to be an alcohol induced sleep.

After waiting for several minutes for the young lady to complete her bathroom activities, I concluded that she was spending an unusually long time in the washroom. I then requested that one of my female colleagues inquire as to the status of our female witness who had requested to use the police washroom. After rapping on the bathroom door and the use of voice to generate a reply/response fail to accomplish its desired effects, the female officer opened the washroom door; there she discovered the young lady fell asleep on the bathroom floor; she also noticed that she had also vomited all over the small room.

It is important to note that each of these youth that was involved in this incident appear to be sober and cohesive moments before they collapsed. It was the first time I have ever experienced or witnessed an individual progressed from what appear to be a state of sobriety to full intoxication in less than thirty seconds. So much so that they fell into what appear to be a deep alcohol/drug induced sleep.

This whole event aroused my suspicions and fears. My inquiries revealed that there were two similar and separate occurrences which were witnessed by other officers a month before. I immediately send out an email to all personnel informing them of my observation and request that anyone encountering any such occurrence must inform me of such. I also requested that the officer try to solicit from the victim information of his or her recent activities, which would include but not limited to, the use of drugs, alcohol, or any other intoxicant; the premises they attend and the activities they got involved in while there etc.

I wanted to see it such occurrences were reasons for concern, if it was I would have had information which would have affored me the ability to pick up any trends, that might have been associated with this dangerous occurrences. My first incline was someone was introducing a new drug into Bermuda and they were engaging in the soon to be very lucrative process of developing their clientele by unknowingly lacing food and drink with the addictive substance; hence the people who had ingested the substance (that induced their rapid unexplained intoxication) did so ignorant of the fact that they were being drugged.

If you have ever witnessed, heard of or know of anyone who was involved in any such or similar events please let me know about it?

The Christmas season is the perfect time of the year to unknowingly cause or develop and addiction in an individual. At Christmas, most of us are often in a festive or celebratory frame of mind and it is this mood that makes each person vulnerable to those that prey on the unsuspecting innocent people (especially the youths) in our community. You have got to once again become your brother’s keeper. The worst thing of all is the fact that the parasites are normally the respected or society’s elite; Isn’t it a shame.

The Legality of the Commissioner of Police Action

................Above: Mike Jackman, Rondalph Liverpool and George Jackson instrument of oppression
This Document was prepared by me and submitted to Chief Inspector Anthony Muchette the police officer prosecuting the case and Chief Inspector Boyce the Presiding officer over the proceedings

A Voire Dire challenging legality of the Main Charge in the first instance, all other charges that was derived from the investigation and this trial, COP V/S Allan Palmer.
It is alleged by the Commissioner of Police that he gave me an order not to publish the Bermuda Police Service (BPS) business on the blog Crushing Fools which can be access via the web address http://crushingfools.blogspot.com/ (which from here will be refer to as the blog.) The first question we must answer before we proceed any further is whether or not the content of the blog can be considered the business of the Bermuda Police Service.

Before we get to that stage we must first clarify and conclude on the following definitions, we must be clear on what is:

  • An opinion

  • A rumor

  • And what is or considered personal or institution’s business

  1. I will start by defining what an opinion is.

An opinion is a conclusion (which may or may not be a statement of fact) drawn upon base on information obtained via the sensory organs. Examples of there are as follows.
An opinion base on the sense of smell: While I was walking though a neighborhood I detected a strong aroma of cherry. Base on the aroma I conclude that the aroma was as a results of someone making cherry Jam. This conclusion that I came to base on the aroma I detected is an opinion. Now if efforts were made and my conclusion was verified, then my opinion is now a statement of fact. If it was proven that another source was responsible for the aroma, then my opinion still remains an opinion. It is also important to note that opinions are not set in stone; they can change when more information is received by the sensory receptors.

    • Opinion formulated base on the sense sight: We can also come to a conclusion based by observing a persons behavior, an action, or a phenomenon.

    • An opinion bases on the sense of hearing: We can formulate an opinion base on a story, a rumor or a declaration of another that we were privilege to have heard. I can go on but I believe that these examples will be sufficient for you to get a clear understanding.

      2. A rumor:
A rumor is an unverified story that is being passed around as a fact. It is also important to note that an individual can formulate an opinion base on a rumor also. Personal and institutional Business: This is the official business of a person or an institution; this business can be confidential or otherwise. And such must be obtained by being in a position of trust. This can be from obtaining that information from the person or from a key person in that institution, or from being put in a place where one can access such information.

It is important to understand that no one who was trusted with confidential or other information that can be considered the business of an individual or an institution do not have the rights to speak of such publicly, or to publish or to cause part or all of that information to be published. It is also important to note that to do the foregoing without the permission of the owner of the information may not be unlawful or illegal but it may be unethical.

    Conclusion:
Having examined the foregoing definitions and having examined the content of the blog; you must conclude that the content of the blog cannot be considered the business of the BPS. All of the information that is posted on the blog is my business and my opinion. The said information is my business as it relates to the unfair or unjust treatment that I received at the hands of key personnel in the Bermuda Police Service.

My experience is my business to speak about publicly, to publish or to cause to be published. It is unfortunate that the Bermuda Police Service have been administering treatment to me, that if make public can/will reflect negatively on the institution and its management. I can understand the effort of the BPS is making to keep such negative occurrence from the public’s attention, but at what cost.

Now that I have bring to your attention a comprehensive level of clarity by explaining the facts as it relates to the category under which the post on the blog falls, I know that you can see the problem we are faced with as it relates to the lawfulness or the legality of the main charge from which all the other charges was derived. An understanding which I know the Commissioner of

Police, his advisers and the investigators had all along. Yet they oppressively caused my stress and frustration by causing my suspension, ordering an investigation, charging me and now causing my illegal prosecution.

I am forced to ask the following questions; was it the intention of the Commissioner of Police to prevent me from speaking of the Bermuda Police Service business or was it his intention to prevent me from discussing my business as it relates to my treatment in the Bermuda Police Service and my opinion publicly.

I therefore submit to you that I have never contravened any lawful order the Commissioner of Police allegedly give to me in writing or the spoken words.

Although I have already proved the illegality of the root charge, I will go a step further in my effort to clarify any question.

First of all I am going to establish the following as it relates to the Commissioner of Police, as it relates to his responsibility of administrating the affairs of the Bermuda Police Service.

    • Does the Commissioner of Police possess ultimate/unlimited powers?

    • What are the limits of his powers as it relates to giving instruction?

    • Can the commissioner of Police give an unlawful instruction?

    • And if an unlawful instruction is given, does anyone under his supervision have the right to disobey any such order or instruction?
According to the laws of Bermuda which includes the Bermuda Constitution, The Police Act 1974, and even the police disciplinary code (the Police Disciplinary Code is not law) has lay down perimeter of the powers of the Commissioner of Police. These laws are available to the public at the national library or via the Internet.

Can the Commissioner of Police give an unlawful order?

According to section 6 of the Police Act 1974 which states:

Members of the Service to obey lawful orders.6 Every member of the Service shall obey all lawful orders of his superior officers and Justices of the Peace whether given verbally or in writing and shall obey and conform to all police regulations, orders and instructions made under this Act.
We must bear in mind that this section did not state that members of the Service shall obey all orders. It clearly states that members of the service hall obey all lawful orders. This in it self tells you that it is not all orders that my come down from the Commissioner of Police may be lawful. And if you must obey all lawful order then you reserve the rights to disobey or refrain from complying with any unlawful order.

Let us say for example (in an extreme case) the commissioner orders one of his men to shoot an unarmed man who was no threat to him (the Commissioner of Police) or any member of the community, but such order were given because of some grievance the commissioner may have with that individual; and let us say for example that officer shoot the individual who die as a result of a gun shot wound. The question we all are forced to answer is, who will be charged for the murder; the Commissioner of Police or the officer who is inferior in rank to the Commissioner of Police who aim/point the gun at the victim and squeeze the trigger which resulted in the death of the individual? It is obvious that the officer who took the action on behalf of the commissioner will be charged and convicted.

This is so because the junior officer is only obligated to follow lawful order given to him by his seniors. The junior officer cannot even use duress as a defense. Although in the junior officer’s mind his respect for or fear of the Commissioner’s rank, his position, his authority and his confidence in the commissioner, may very well put the Junior officer under such mental stress that he felt he must comply with the unlawful instruction of the commission and thus the Commissioner of Police may have technically put that junior officer under duress, but under these circumstances duress cannot/will not be considered a legal or lawful defense.

The order (s) from the commissioner do not have to be so outrageous, or one that can merit a murder conviction or a lengthy term of imprisonment, it may be a simple instruction that may not have any serious consequence, no junior officer is obligated to follow any unlawful instruction, it must be made clear that it is the personal choice of the junior officer if he so wishes to comply with such order. It must also be made absolutely clear and also be known that the junior officer will be solely responsible for such action and any consequence of such action if he knows that such order was unlawful.

What will be unfortunate for that officer is the fact that the law is clear. Officers are to comply with the lawful orders of his seniors. No officer is obligated to comply with any unlawful instruction of his seniors.

The Police Act 1974 made of mentioned to categories in this section it speak of “Superior officers” (Superior in this case refers to rank, not management or policing ability) and the “Justice of the Peace.” In this case Justice of the Peace refers to the honorary post that is given to outstanding, respected and reputable members of the community who has the legislated powers of a magistrate as well as the professional (trained lawyers) magistrates; all of whom the commissioner of police is obligated to take orders or instruction form.

Base on the privileges the Bermuda Constitution give to me. And you notice I use the word privilege, that is because the rights as is outlined in the Bermuda constitution are conditional that it does not cause any serious unrest with in the state, (spreading a falsehood that cause mass panic in the community etc.) in other words in the interests of defense, public safety, public order, public morality or public health; and as long as one whilst in the exercise of his rights civil, constitutional rights, or human rights he does not impede the rights of others.

Let us once again examine my rights as provided for me under the constitution of Bermuda, as it relates to my rights to form hold and express my opinion freely.

Chapter 1 of schedule two of the order of the constitution of Bermuda, section 1, subsection, (b) and section 9 subsection 1 clearly states:

Fundamental rights and freedoms of the individual1 Whereas every person in Bermuda is entitled to the fundamental rights and freedoms of the individual, that is to say, has the right, whatever his race, place of origin, political opinions, color, creed or sex, but subject to respect for the rights and freedoms of others and for the public interest, to each and all of the following, namely:
    (b) Freedom of conscience, of expression etc.
    Protection of freedom of expression
9 (1) Except with his consent, no person shall be hindered in the enjoyment of his freedom of expression, and for the purposes of this section the said freedom includes freedom to hold opinions and to receive and impart ideas and information without interference, and freedom from interference with his correspondence.

This piece of the Supreme law is written in clear, simple understandable language that even the simplest of mind could grasp and understand its meaning and therefore needs no further explanation.

We have examined the powers of the Commissioner of Police under the Police regulation now let us look at the powers of the Commissioner of Police under the Constitution of Bermuda the supreme law in the island of Bermuda: which is to administer the affairs of the Service according to the stipulations laid out in the Police Act 1974 which give him the power to make policies and rules which will see the efficient and effective running of the Service. But such policies and rules cannot supersede the Police Act or the Constitution of Bermuda. In other words the Commissioner of Police cannot grant to himself unlimited powers.

The Duty of Public officer: According to the Bermuda Constitution as it relates to his/her freedom of expression also has its restrictions and lawful limitations. The lawful imposed restrictions on public officers is unlawful if the expression of the public officer can be deemed to be reasonable justifiable in a democratic society.

If it was determined that a public officer is deemed to be acting in a manner that was not considered reasonable in a democratic society, then the officer must be informed in writing and asked to desist from the action (s). If not he or she must be left alone to excise his constitutional privilege without interference.

I submit to you that my actions as it relates to the posting of my business and opinion on the blog, and as it relates to the advertisement on the rear of my car was not unlawful and did not violate any law whether criminal or common law, and neither did my action violate any ones right or imposed on any one civil liberty or freedom.

Now I have brought sufficient evidence to prove that the order as it pertain to me as a policing operating and posting of information on the blog Crushing Fools of which I am the professed administrator was unlawful; even though the posting of some of the articles on the said blog may be different to the opinion of that of Commissioner of Police and a few of his senior officers. The order which he gave was indeed unlawful as the main intent was to censorship. And therefore was an imposition of my under mentioned and protected rights and I have no obligation to comply with any such order.

This brings me to a very important section of the constitution, as outlined in Chapter 1 section 3 subsection (1) which deals with the protection from inhuman treatment which states:

Protection from inhuman treatment3 (1) No person shall be subjected to torture or to inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.
This is what is presently happening to me, I was forced to work under and in a very hostile environment and because I refused to comply with unlawful instructions I am punished, (suspended) and have unlawful prosecution be brought against me.

Even the police Disciplinary Code 1975 section 2 subsection (b) (c) (d) and (f) speak of oppressive conduct.

    (b) An officer may be guilty of oppressive conduct: if a police officer is guilty of oppressive or tyrannical conduct towards an inferior in rank or

    (d) If willfully or negligently make a false complaint or statement against any other officer.
I have a case of oppressive conduct against several member of the Bermuda Police Service that used their position and authority to aid in my unlawful suspension.

Why Do You Want To Take Away My Voice

On Thursday 4th December, 2008, while I was in the process of catching up on the news via the internet, I logged onto Caribbean Net News, while reading the letters that are published there, my attention was drawn to a feature I have never paid much attention to before. I became fascinated with a feature that keeps a record of how many times a particular letter was read or the number of hits particular letters received.

As you would imagined there was a sudden arousal of my curiosity; so I started an investigation/research; as I read the letter on the site I made a written record of the amount of hits each letter received. Then I began to look at what I considered the big topics, the names of important people and good writers that are published in this section of this online journal; I also made a record of the number of hits these topics and writers received.

After I was satisfied I then turn the spotlight on my writings. I must admit that I was disappointed when I saw the total number of hits my earlier writings received, but as I make my way to my later writings I discovered that the amount of hits my writing received began to grow. This show that I have began to attract an online following. I discovered that my Caribbean Net News followers began to grow in the same way my “Crushing Fools” blog followers grew.

I discovered that my article which was captioned “Proud of My New Found Status” received: 403 hits, “The Revenge of Ralph Gonsalves received 510 hits, Serial Rapist in S.V.G received 409 hits, and my last letter which was titled “What is Justice," received 774 hits. I discovered even articles written about issues in Bermuda received hundreds of hits. I must confess that of all the letters I have reviewed, no other letter received as much hits as the article “What is Justice?” As far as my research have revealed the letter “What is Justice?” Have the all time highest number of hits for any letter published by the Caribbean Net News

From the feed back I received from members of the newspaper reading Vincentian community (native of St. Vincent and the Grenadines), I know there is a large cross section of that island residence who reads and look forward to reading my articles when they are published in the St. Vincent and the Grenadines news papers.

In the early days Nora Peacock the then editor (deceased) of the Vincentian Newspaper always gave me a voice by publishing my writings which included poems. Then Norma Keizer the then managing editor of the Searchlight News Paper did not only ensure that I had a voice by publishing my writings; she encouraged me to writing.

The News Newspaper was always selective in which of my articles they published.

I discovered that after I began my campaign to ensure that the female police officer and the young Vincentian/Canadian lawyer who brought charges of rape and sexual assault against the Prime Minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines Ralph E. Gonsalve was given due process and after several articles addressing this topic, the news papers in St. Vincent refused to publish my articles. It was at this point that I turned to the Caribbean Net news. The Caribbean Net news saw it fit to provide me with a platform from which to trumpet my campaign for justice on behalf of these two alleged female victims, this was enforced by Edwardo Lynch host of New Times interactive radio program.
Mr. Lynch often take timeout to read my publish writings on his radio program; and in some cases Junior Bacchus and Mathew Thomas also aided in amplifying my voice on their interactive radio program. I can remember to my surprise, listening to Junior and Matthew’s program via the internet and the sense of pride I felt as these men made one of my article “The Psychological Effects of Rape” the focal point of discussion of their show. Both interactive radio program are facilitated by Nice Radio, which is own and managed by Douglas De Freitas a true patriot.

But lately a strange and unfortunate phenomenon occurred; as of late I noticed that my letters have not been reaching the pages of the Caribbean Net News; in the same manner they are not reaching the pages of the News Paper in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Now if my writings are responsible for attracting readers to a journal whether online of print, why would these Journals suddenly refused to publish them; bearing in mind that evidence show that the readers follows my writing. Common sense is not common. With the rate of law suits that is being banged about the place and the amount of threats that are issued to the citizenry of St. Vincent and the Diaspora about being sued if one speaks the truth. With this in mind I have conclude that someone threaten to sue the Caribbean Net News, and the News Paper in St. Vincent if they continue to publish my letter/articles; hence their reluctance to publish my articles/letters. To the Caribbean Net News and the other papers please do not print a set the record straight article, (in the same manner the Bermuda Police Service had a set the record straight press release) no one will believe you, for the record is already straight. We know what you will be told or expected to say to hide what is already known.

There is one thing I know the price of justice is very high. Many people have given their lives for justice, honesty and fair play. Giving their life was a sacrifice they were willing to make. Many have lose acquired wealth for just causes but they keep the riches no one could takeaway from them; the riches of a strong character, their integrity, ethics, and high moral standards. It is true that these rich virtues cannot full an empty stomach, cloth a bear body or provide shelter from the elements but the give you something that the fat bang belly cats doesn’t have, which is: a peace of mind.

To Douglas De Freitas, Edwardo Lynch and Nice Radio please be reminded that God is still in control of this world. some people says that he has a strange sense of humor, but one thing he have promise as was declared by the King David when he said: “I was young but now I am old yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken nor his seeds begging bread.”

It Do Not Hurt To Be Polite

...........................My Friends William (Sam) Yvonne Cathlyn (Lyn)
While on the Island of St. Croix visiting friends, I developed a morning ritual, which gives me the opportunity to reflect on the previous day’s activities, review my plans, my goals, while I contemplate on the direction in which my life is currently going and what is needed to do to accomplish my goals.

...................................The Hotel on the Cay

Each day I went to the docks opposite the Hotel on the Cay. There I will enjoy the beautiful scenes that unfold before me; scenes such as the boats floating by, the birds as they get their morning meals, the changing patterns of the tides and the human activities of people going about their business. This was not only relaxing it was very enjoyable.

I can remember the very first morning I went to that dock in the little town of Christiansted. The boat man or the fairy operator (a native of St. Croix) made his way from Island on the Cay and came to where I was sitting and as his custom is, he asked me if I am going over to the island. As the fairy operator he was expected to take the hotel staff as well as guess to and from the little island on which the Hotel was built. This island is about fifty meters from the town of Christiansted.

I politely informed the him I will not be using his service today. He proceeded to take the few passengers who had assembled on the dock to the luxury island. Each day from Monday to Friday I will religiously travel to that very spot. At times the boat operator and I will exchange a glimpse, a nod of the head a passing mumble but rarely did we exchanged a word.

It was Wednesday 26th November 2008, the day before thanksgiving; I went to the dock as was usual, while there, I noticed the same fairy operator performing what was his expected duties, however today he had very unattractive bulky looking vessel.

When the boat operator docked, I bid him good morning then I inquired about the where bouts of the regular vessel. He ignored my greeting as well as the question I asked; as a matter of fact he refused to turn around and acknowledged my presence. I repeated the question, thinking that he did not hear what I said, but this time I did it in a louder tone of voice; once again I did not get a reply or an acknowledgement from the man who was busy doing nothing. A few passengers came and he went about his assignment as normal.

.........The Vessel that is used to take hotel workers and Guess to the island

On his return to the dock where I was still sitting, I repeated the question again, not being as smart as other people are, it was only then I realized that the fairy operator was ignoring me. I just smile at his strange and impolite behavior; as he continued to fiddle with some rope that was attached to the boat.

I do not know what caused my attention return to the ferry and the ferry operator, but when I looked in that direction I noticed the strangest occurrence. I noticed the bow of the boat has swung way from the dock; the fairy operator was dangling from the rail which is affixed to the bow of the boat and both of his feet, up to his knees in the water.

I quickly rushed over to where my impolite friend was experiencing his distress; I momentarily glanced into his eyes which revealed absolute fear, could it be that the fairy operator was unable to swim? The fear in his eyes alerted me of the seriousness of the matter that confronted me. The ferry operator needed my help yet he could not bring himself to ask for it.

I maneuvered myself as to take hold of the helpless ferry operator by securing my hands under his arm pit, even before I have securely griped him he let lose his grip of the boat and I was left to carry the weight of a man that was no less than two hundred and forty (250 lbs) pounds. I tried my very best, utilizing all of the force I could have generated in an effort to hoist the ferry operator onto the dock; but unfortunately not even the adrenaline that such events cause to be excreted into the blood of one in a similar situation did not provided me with the required strength that was necessary to pull this man to safety. With the belief that he was unable to swim, I know I could not allow him to fall into the water. Such would have immediately change the situation, transforming it from a simple slip into a fatality; which may have resulted in the lost of a husband, a father, a brother and a friend to God knows how many people. So I held onto my friend for quite a while, until a Caucasian man who was standing some distance away came to my aid.

Together we tried to get the boat operator back onto the dock but even with the added help this was a difficult task. Then I heard my help start counting, immediately and without any further discussion we both pulled on three. With the coordinated force of my helper and I, we managed to get the fairy operator back onto the docks.

When he was safely on the dock I went back to my seat and resume what I was doing before I went to the ferry operator’s aid. While there; I noticed the man who had just been rescued still sitting in the place and position we left him. For about ten minutes he sat there in silence, not looking left or right but he sat in what appear to be a contemplative mood. Then without any warning, he looked in my direction and said “thank you Sir thanks very much.”

The ferry operator left the docks with a new set of passengers and later returned carrying more passengers from the island. Once again he looked in my direction and said thank you once again.

Dr. Browne Be Careful With What You Say

I was disappointed when I heard the statement which was made by the Primer of Bermuda the Hon. Dr. Ewart Browne, JP, MP. In his attempt to deny the white Bermudians the opportunity to association with Barack Obama; the USA first black president. He said in essence; that white Bermudian would not have voted for Obama if common voting trends were anything to go by. This in it self is an unfair remark.

While preparing this article I saw imbedded within it Wednesday’s article which dealt with small Island politicians. So I took the opportunity to address that aspect of small island life and the politics that was associated with it.
I will like to take some time to address this statement, and bring to life some very important points which many may have never consider or if they had may not possess a medium such as this to put forward your opinion.

Like the United States of America, Bermuda has a very strong racist under current which can cause an individual much psychological damage if one becomes so entangled. I know this for a fact because I have felt the full voltage of racism while I was in the Bermuda Police Service; but that is a topic for another time.

Although it is the politicians duty and elected obligation to unite the people unfortunately the politicians in Bermuda shamelessly benefits when they encourage the racial divide. For Dr. Browne and his PLP it means tapping into the fears and anger and other emotions of the black majority; thus ensuring their party maintains a strong hold on the governance of the country, and for selected members of the UBP it means ensures that they keep their elected seat in the house of parliament. Although to continually encourage the racial divide among the people is not good for any one, the politicians are not big enough to put their country before their party, their personal and political ambitions. When one speak about selfish men you speak about small Island politicians.

Small island politicians have adopted the techniques of the old slave specialist; Willie Lynch. Willie Lynch taught slaves owners, if they can keep the slaves divided then they will keep their slaves. Small island politician practice the same concept, which is; if you can keep the people divided you will keep your job.

Now let me address the Statement which was made by the Hon. Premier Dr. Browne JP. MP. In our jubilation we must not forget that Barack Obama is not the first Black man that offered himself to the citizenry of the USA to lead that great country as their president. Can you remember our 1980s pride Rev. Jessie Jackson who was the first in modern history to offer himself as the first black democratic candidate for the presidency of the United States of America? And for that era Jessie did quite well. He actually won a few states in the democratic primary.

When Barack Obama and other black youths saw Jessie’s effort; they knew in their hearts that one day they will be able to stand like Rev. Jessie Jackson, run for the presidency of America and eventually win that post. Do you remember the Rev. Al Sharpton with his less that successful bid for the presidency in the democratic primaries? Yes White America rejected these to ambitious black men in their quest to attain the highest political office in the country of their birth.

White America and Barack Obama & The Bermuda Context
Barack Obama a USA senator with two years senatorial experience under his belt, decided to go to the starting line and join the race to become the president of the United States of America. At the time when he declared his intent, he was literally an unknown, with very little political experience, and with some strange acquaintances. This lead most people think that Barack’s campaign was just another freak/side show.

But Barack Obama was different than most black candidates, for one; thing he was born of a white mother, nurtured as one who was white, and he showed whites of America that side of him: in other words he was telling them I may not look like you but I was born from one of you, I grew up just like you did so in essences I am one of you. Barack also had and presented to all American an attitude and a message of change, trust and a commitment to work for all people regardless of race, gender, age, ethnicity, origin, sexual preferences etc. Barack message was one that propagated country and people before self and party. He did not use fear to conjure up hurt feels, mixed emotions and hate but a message of love, togetherness, and prosperity for all.

The Question: Have any Black or white Politician in Bermuda ever offered themselves as a trusted candidate for change? Have any of them every brought to the people of Bermuda a message and character that can cause the people to trust them the way Barack Obama did? I say no. Not Browne, Not Dunkley, not Furbert, not Cox.

In short no PLP politician had never so convinced the white population of Bermuda the way Barack Obama convinced the White population of America. I also saw Dr. Browne statement as a lame effort to compare himself with Barack Obama. Dr. Brown you or no one in your cabinet possess the class, the integrity, the love for country/people and the statesmanship that this iconic American Biracial man possess.

Dr. Brown, If you cannot love and appreciate (not condone acts of prejudice etc.) your white countrymen and women, you cannot love and appreciate Barack Obama; for within his vane runs the blood of his white mother, and it will make you uncomfortable when he invites his white Brothers, sisters and friends to your house.

I have seen a new day dawning in Bermuda, as well as in other small islands, a day that will leave the politician behind. A day when the citizenry becomes so informed that they unite for the common good of their country. Soon the race card, scare tactics and other negative and divisive issues will not work in swaying individuals to vote for any politician (black and White); a day when politicians will have to come up with sound plans and programs and a character to match before the people will even consider them; a day when the bread and butter issues takes precedence and votes are cast base on ones

Small Island Politicians: Do they really have small Brains/Minds

..............................................Heads of Small Island States

Leadership is a tremendous challenge; but when a leader knows what he or she is doing and when he or she understand, accept and appreciates the fact that, it is the choice of the people to follow that individual or not and a leader is indeed the people’s servant; it is only then that leadership becomes a wonderful experience. It is important for leaders and potential leaders to note: that an individual or group who have decided to elect or nominate anyone as their leader (political or otherwise) have the democratic, the constitutional and the God given right to reject that leadership at any point in time and for any given reason. There are some characteristics that are synonymous to small Island politicians that scare me: one is the fact that, the politicians don’t understand or refused to understand this (the above) simple concept. Most small island politicians behave as if it is their inalienable rights to be in charge of the people political affairs, and they show no tolerance for anyone who opposes them. Such behaviors are juvenile and ought to be expected from children not grown educated men and women.

Unfortunately the politicians in small island benefits when they encourage the political and other divide, put enmity between the people by stirring up the fears, anger and other emotions of the masses; thus ensuring their party maintains a strong hold on the governance of the country, and for the selected few or the other party, it means ensures that they keep their elected seat in the house of parliament. We all know it is an unhealthy social condition to continually encourage a venomous divide among the people; but to do such to achieve a personal or a political goal is not good for any one. It is a dirty shame that politicians are not big enough to put their country before their party, their personal and their political ambitions. When one speak about selfish men you speak about small Island politicians, I hole the size of their state in no way impacts on the size of their brain or mind.

Small island politicians have adopted the techniques of the old slave specialist; Willie Lynch. Willie Lynch taught slaves owners: if they can keep the slaves divided then they will keep their slaves. Small island politician practice the same concept, which is; if you can keep the people divided you will keep your job.

I have seen a new day dawning in these small islands, a day that will left the politician behind. A day when the citizenry becomes so informed that they unite for the common good of their country. party card and loyalty, scare and other tactics will not work in swaying to vote for any politician or his party; there is dawning a day when politicians will have to come up with sound plans and programs and a character to match before the people will even consider them. When the people will demand that the parliamentarians enact and enforced sound integrity legislation, when one will have to be able to pass the acid test to be a politician; when this new era is ushered in what are you guys going to do.

Crimes of The Flesh; who are the Criminals

Prostitution is as old as time itself, even from the beginning of time women have been made to be or have chosen to be prostitutes; Biblical history, secular history and modern trends bears witness of this fact. Prostitution is a situation which resulted from some social condition which may force a woman to sell her body, for the sexual gratification of another: mainly a man.

Prostitution is the process where an individual offers themselves to indulge in sexual favors for a fee: where an individual pays another to have sexual intercourse or sexual favors with him/her.

We must understand that most women prostitute themselves to satisfy or alleviate some unfavorable social condition or to satisfy some needs or wants. I have heard of women who offered their body as a sacrifice to silence the cry that the pain of hunger generated in the stomachs of their children. I have heard of ladies who have developed deranged sexual cravings and habits which were resulted by some childhood trauma: the painful consequences of sexual abuse, rape etc. now these victims see the collection of money for their imposed perversion as a means to an end.

I have also heard of women who after being raped, felt so nasty, worthless and cheap that they sell themselves as prostitute; but worst yet, I have heard the sick stories of unscrupulous men who entrapped women and with the use of threats introduce them to the world and life of prostitution. Never have I heard of a mentally healthy woman, with no adverse social condition just venturing into this despised business. There are many more painful stories which in detail chronicle the suffering of such people.

In today’s world, prostitution is illegal. It is illegal for a prostitute to entice a potential client to use her service and it is also illegal for an individual to solicit another to become sexually involve with him or her for a fee, whether that fee is paid before the sex act immediately after the sex act or some time later.

All in all prostitution is illegal, demeaning, dehumanizing, and degrading to the parties involved; but more so, to the person who should be using his or her substance to elevate the falling, bring healing to those who are hurting, and be a guiding light to those who have lost their way.

Unfortunately; today our sick world has digressed into a place where there are male prostitutes, who offers themselves for the sexual gratification of both male and female. As nauseating as this taught is, it is a modern day fact of life.

For us male have become so lazy, that we refuse to use the strength that God have given to us. strength which would have afford us to live up to our responsibility to our community as leaders, protectors of the helpless, the hopeless, the poor, the weak, the widows, and the parent less; but instead we look for the opportunity to prey on the people who have fallen on hard times and find themselves in such unfortunate position. We refuse to control our passions, especially our sexual passions and so we craft opportunities which create victims within the communities; then we take advantage of those we were blessed or put into position to look out for.

The refusal (in some deranged cases: inability) to control or curb one sexual desire leads to deranged sexual cravings; cravings which cause these sick people to make intensive efforts in order to satisfy their desires. As a result, the destructive element of raped is introduced into the life of many and the helpless innocence of babies are no longer a safe stage, for these deranged men has no regards or sympathy for such; not when their passion burn within them. In some cases the victims of rape are killed to avoid detection; and if the predators are detected, they will lie and do all in their power to avoid the justice system and the punishment that is associates with such crimes.

In such situation those with money make their money speak for them; adding more humiliation to the already dehumanizing experience they would have put the individual through. Each time a victim of rape accept monies for their pain, humiliation and the lost of their dignity they suffered during and after being raped; in my opinion they are selling their body and is actually participating in prostitution. Anyone who pays or offers to pay an individual to avoid going to the law, to withdraw a case or not to make their misdeed public, is actually participating in prostitution; such offer to pay or payment is an admission of guilt; and anyone who acts as a go between or a middle man to facilitate such transaction in cases of rape is nothing less than a pimp or a jigglelow.

Although prostitution is a sad phenomenon, most of the times it is an act where two consenting adults entering into a simple contract. But to strip an individual of their dignity via the act of rape and then turning them into a prostitute is a whole other story.

Cases of rape are very easy to prove in the court of law, and if an individual was even found not guilty by a jury of his peers, that individual will forever live with the stigma of the allegations; because not guilty do not necessarily means innocent.

I have heard of stories of women who fabricate stories of rape as a means of revenge and out of spite. This is not only low and dirty it is dishonesty to the lowest; such people if discovered should he banished from the community.

So if an allegation of rape was brought against an individual and that individual chooses to pay the alleged victim not to pursue legal action; then their action is in its self an admission of guilt; and any alleged victim of rape who accepts money as a payoff, that out stretched hand immediately transforms that person from a victim to a prostitute.

Change has come

...................................Barack Obama.................Martin Luther King Jr.

This poem was inspired by Barack Obama' election Campaign and his subsequent election as President of the United States of America, which represented the only time in history when all people came together as one, forget their differences and just celebrated with no prejudice.

Walking amidst the dark allies of the pass, their darkness concealing my complexion, Afraid to look up for fear, that the white of my eyes will betray my place of safety; Afraid of being discovered; making me vulnerable and a victim of those who fear the things that they don’t know or understand.

Yesterday we could have, today we did, tomorrow we must continue to be the people who are free to love each other regardless.

Yeah, and then the son shown through and presented himself as a champion of justice, peace and love, Wiping away the mentality that allow injustice to divides us, prejudice to separate us and intolerance to motivate actions that hurts feelings, minds, and take life: a prejudice that cause its victims to suffer as well as the aggressor.

Yesterday we could have, today we did, tomorrow we must continue to be the people who are free to love each other regardless.

Then came a better day, a day of discovery, a day that illuminated the dark allies of the pass and there I discovered that it mattered not that we looked different, that the shades of our skin, the contours of out faces, the colors of our eyes and our physical features are not the same,

Change have come, Yesterday we could have, today we did, tomorrow we must continue to be the people who are free to love each other regardless.

We have come a long way; we were taught to look beyond our physical composition and peer into the each others souls and examine the content of the hearts and the quality of your character. Today we walk hand in hand constructing the future with bricks of peace, timbers of tolerance, columns of Joy, all supported on a foundation of love; love must be the basis of our existence.

Change have come, yesterday we could have but yesterday have long gone and cannot be change, today we did, the efforts of today charts the courses of tomorrow; for tomorrow we must continue to be the people who are free to love each other regardless.

Barack Obama: The Fulfillment of Dr. King's Dream

At 11:00 pm, on Tuesday 4th November 2008, Barack Hussein Obama an African American the son of a Nigerian immigrant and white .............................................U.S.A President Elect Barakc Hussein Obama
American female, broke through the racial barriers that was erected by racist America to become the first black man to hold the office of President of the Unites States Of America.

..............................................................................................U
Barracks election came at a time when the United States of America is facing tremendous economic hardship and is also the most unpopular nation on earth. His journey was not an easy one. His was a journey that was prepared with the blood, sweat, tears and life of millions that went before him. Just a few years ago a fragile black woman by the name of Rosa Parks was arrested when she refused to comply.....................Rosa Parks mother of the American civil rights rebellion
when instructed to give up her seat and stand at the back of the bus, in order to allow a white person can sit (this was the law). Rosa Park's refusal and subsequent arrest triggered a series of events: which includes the motivation of a southern baptist minister Martin Luther King Jr. to stand up, spoke up and to lead a nation into discovering its conscience.

.................Martin Luther King Jr. The Father of the America Civil Rights movement

This was not a short or easy process but it was a necessary process. This struggle saw many black as well as white sympathizers suffering even onto death at the hands of white segregated America.
.............A lynching (the organized public murder of a black person by white people)
This is the same America where its white citizens will go on "PICK NICKS" (or pick a nigger outing: a social gathering where white people get together to pick a black person to be lynched or hang by the neck until he or she was dead). The America where black people were denied entry into public places and the use of public facility because of the color if their skin.

I am not a citizen of the United States of America and unlike my brothers, sisters and other family members who are citizen of this mighty nation, I was not privilege enough to cast a vote for Barack Obama in this historic election. However I am proud to say that I Allan H. F. Palmer had a hand in Barack's success. For the first time in my life I have contributed to a political campaign. It may not have been much but it gave me the privilege to be a part of history.

No one knows what the future holds, but may the all powerful God bless Obama, his family, his decisions and his presidency.

The Bermuda Police Service: Success or Failure

October 2008 will see the Bermuda Police Service (BPS) inaugurate the celebration of a milestone in the police week celebration; the BPS will be celebrating 129 years of unbroken service to the people of Bermuda. Such a milestone is always an ideal time for honest reflection. This is a perfect time for the Governor and his staff, Government of Bermuda, management of the BPS and the people of Bermuda to reflect on the service the Bermuda Police Service provide in recent years.

I will attempt to give you some back ground of the core responsibility of the police service within the community, then you can conclude whether the Bermuda Police Service have been living up to its obligation to the community.

The first responsibility of any police force or service in the community is one of prevention.

1. To prevent the commission of crimes and other offences: the prevention of crimes and other offenses are the first and most important responsible of any such organization. There are many techniques services and forces employ to prevent the commission offences.

a. Police presence: the presence of police acts as a deterrent to would be offenders. Police ought to make regular foot and mobile patrol, put the criminal element on notice. This sends a clear message to the criminal that the police are ready to act if the need arises. The police presence also gives the community a sense of security and also reassures the law abiding citizen that they will be/are safe.

b. Education: the Service has an obligation to educate the community on techniques in preventing crimes, and the importance in partnering with the police in the fight against crime.

c. Quick response: a force or service that has a record in speedy response to the community in need gains the confidence of its community; it also sends a clear message to the criminal element as well as the law abiding citizens within the community that the organization personnel are serious about their responsibilities.

d. The speedy and effective processing of the offenders: It is important that officers dealing with report or cases ensure that such is dealt with in a timely manner; it is also important that the officers do not compromise the quality of his or her work for speed and ensure that every legal course of action is taken to ensure that justice is done.

e. The exhibition of courage by the officers: it is important that the community knows that the people who are paid to protect them are courageous and are willing do what is necessary to ensure the community is safe. A community that has confidence in the police is a community that will fully corporate with the police at all times.

It is important to note that the speedy arrest, and prosecution of offenders cause potential offenders to reconsider their actions. An arrest immediately after an offence was committed impacts the community (law abiding & Criminal) differently. In the same way if the criminal community knows that the police officers are not afraid of them, then the criminals tend walk as if they are on glass.

2. To detect crime: in the event prevention fail and a crime was committed, it is the responsibility of the police to carry out an investigation into the matter. The objective of the investigation is to first ascertain whether an offence was committed, and if so who commit the offence, why, where, when and how the offense was committed. It is important that the officer collect the relevant evidence to support his/her findings; such evidence should be collected with the view of being presented in court (it matters not whether the matter goes to court).

3. Apprehension of the offenders: while an officer may have the power to arrest offenders for most crimes, it is important to note that the law does not allow for the arrest of the offender when he/she commits certain crimes. In situation where there is a power of arrest the offenders should be arrested as soon as possible and where their is no power of arrest the officer must ensure that the matter is process as soon as possible. It is also important for the complainant to be informed of the actions taken by the police on his or her behalf.

4. Caused the offenders to be prosecuted: after any officer have ascertained that an offense was committed, and he have obtained knowledge and evidence of who, how when, where and why the offence was committed; it is important to cause a case file is prepared and submitted to the prosecution office as soon as possible. This will ensure that justice is swift. Officers should work on the premise of justice delayed is justice denied.

The question is, from what you have observed and experiences; have the Bermuda Police service been meeting its obligation to the community?
